Our white wine sparkling sangria includes Cointreau, fresh peaches, cantaloupe, pineapple and raspberries in glasses rimmed with Sunshine Yellow cocktail sugar and garnished with mint or basil. It’s definitely a party in a glass, even if we’ve taken some liberties with the original sangria recipe. A type of punch, sangria is originally from Spain and usually uses red wine, chopped fruit and other spirits. Our version keeps to the spirit of the drink except in a sparkling white version.
Fill a large pitcher with the peaches, cantaloupe, pineapple and raspberries. Muddle the fruit gently. Add the white wine and Cointreau or triple sec. Stir well and place the pitcher in the refrigerator to chill for at least two hours (overnight is better).
Once the mixture is chilled and you are ready to serve, collect your chilled glasses. Rim the glasses with our cocktail rim sugar. Fill the glasses halfway with ice. Add sparkling water (or seltzer water) to the pitcher and stir gently. Pour the drinks into the prepared glasses, garnish with fruit and herbs, and serve.
Rocks or highball glasses (chilled)
