Making up a signature Christmas party drink, our pomegranate old fashioned cocktail, that everyone will love, is easy. We take a classic, the Old Fashioned, and add a twist, pomegranate juice. Simple but remarkably effective at elevating this simple cocktail. People who love whiskey will definitely enjoy this one and best of all, it’s easy to make in big batches.
We like to serve it in glasses rimmed with our festive Christmas cocktail sugar.
If serving in a rocks glass: Rim chilled glasses with cocktail rim sugar. Set aside. Next, add the 4 T of pomegranate seeds, bitters and the granulated sugar into the cocktail shaker. Muddle well, add ice, cover and shake well. Strain into two ice-filled glasses and add the whiskey, along with a splash of water. Stir. Then garnish with the extra pomegranate seeds and serve.
If serving in a martini glass: Rim chilled glasses with cocktail rim sugar. Set aside. Next, add the 4 T of pomegranate seeds, bitters and the granulated sugar into the cocktail shaker. Muddle well, add ice and whiskey, cover and shake well gently. Strain into two martini glasses, add a splash of water. Stir, garnish with the extra pomegranate seeds and serve.
