Green milk might be fun for the kids on St. Patrick’s Day but we prefer our Tipsy Leprechaun Milk version. We honor the spirit of the holiday by using a good Irish whiskey and everyone’s favorite sweet Irish cream. You know you love it. Sure, you could add some mint extract but if you have fresh mint around, it’s worth muddling it into the creamy milk. We’ll leave it up to you if you want it green but kids would probably love just the minty green milk.

Leprechauns, as we know, are mischievous little elves so we’ll blame them for the amount of whiskey you add to your milk. But our leprechaun left his hat on the glass, to let us know he approves of the drink.

Tipsy Leprechaun Milk

For the Cocktail:

2 oz. Whiskey

1 oz. Irish cream

4 oz. Milk

Handful of fresh mint


Green food color (optional)

For the Rim:

1 Tablespoon simple syrup or corn syrup

Add a tablespoon or two of the green rim sugar to a shallow dish. Brush the edges of a cocktail glasses with the corn or simple syrup and then roll it around in the sugar. Place in the refrigerator for a few minutes to set and chill the glass.

Add the fresh mint and milk to a cocktail shaker and muddle well with a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon. Add in the whiskey, Irish cream and a couple of drops of green food coloring, if using.

Fill with ice, shake well and strain into the prepared glass.
