Is there anything better than a warm mug of Spiked Apple Cider to warm your soul (and body) on a cold winter’s day? This fun cocktail for the holiday season is a result of us partnering with the team at O’Shaughnessy’s Public House in Chicago, and their bartender manager, Julia. She created the Soul Warmer, a toasty warm and delicious recipe that would make tasty Thanksgiving or Christmas party drinks.
The base of the recipe is good non-alcoholic apple cider, which you can only really get during the fall. (Here in the Midwest, we recommend going with a cider made from Michigan apples. Yum!) The Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey is triple distilled, and is key to getting that spiced flavor. The Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey enhances the cinnamon flavor – but it’s strong, so adjust to taste. And Dell Cove™ Cinnamon Kiss cocktail rim sugar adds a sweet and spicy garnish to finish it off.
We had a great time making cocktails with the O’Shaughnessy team and you can watch a video of us, on our Facebook page here, making these fun shots at the pub, too.Print
For the Drink:
5 oz Apple Cider (non-alcoholic, heated)
1/5 oz Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey
Splash of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
Simple syrup (for wetting the glass rim)
Apple slices and whole cinnamon sticks (for garnish)
Pour a tablespoon of the rimming sugar into a shallow bowl. Brush the edges of the bar glass with simple syrup and and roll in the rimming sugar. Set aside.
To make the drink, heat up your apple cider either in a pan on the stovetop or in a cup in the microwave, until it is pleasantly warm. Pour the apple cider and the Tullamore whiskey into your glass. Give the liquids a gentle stir with a spoon. Top off the cocktail with a splash of the Cinnamon whiskey. Add the apple and cinnamon sticks as garnish, and serve.
