Our mint chocolate bourbon smash brings together two of our favorite flavors – chocolate and mint. Sure, we normally love mint in cocktails such as mojitos and mint juleps but there’s no denying that mint and chocolate are a great match everywhere. Just look at the candy aisle of the store to see all the great options for this duo, not to mention a certain famous Girl Scout cookie.
This drink uses a bit of fresh mint muddled into the bourbon and chocolate liqueurs. But the real minty punch comes from our peppermint flavored rim sugars. Not only does it add a festive sparkle for those holiday cocktails but every sip delivers a touch of sweetness and a touch of peppermint.Print
For the Cocktail:
2 oz. Bourbon
1 oz. Chocolate liqueur
1/2 oz. Creme de cacao
2 oz. whole milk
3 Sprigs fresh mint
For the Rim:
1 Tablespoon simple syrup or corn syrup
Pour a tablespoon or two of the mint rimming sugar into a shallow bowl. Brush the edges of a cocktail glass with the simple syrup or corn syrup and roll in the rimming sugar. Place in the freezer for a few minutes to firm up while you make the drink.
Add the bourbon, chocolate liqueur, creme de cacao, milk and fresh mint to a cocktail shaker. Muddle the mint using a cocktail muddler or the back of a wooden spoon. Fill with ice, shake well and strain into the prepared glass. Garnish with an additional sprig of fresh mint, if desired.
