Mardi Gras French 75
This Mardi Gras French 75 champagne cocktail recipe makes an elegant libation, and is nod to the drink served at the historic bar attached to Arnaud's restaurant. That bar dates back to the late 1800s and let me tell you, those folks still know how to mix a delicious drink. To make the recipe a bit more Southern, swap the gin out for cognac or rum, and double the amount of lemon juice and simple syrup. Want a different garnish? Try a twist of fresh lemon or blood orange peel.
Rim two chilled champagne flutes with the Dell Cove Spice Co. Purple rim sugar. Set aside. Pour all ingredients - EXCEPT the Champagne (or your favorite dry sparkling wine) - into a cocktail shaker and fill the shaker with ice. Cover and shake vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes. Strain equally into sugar rimmed glasses. Top with Champagne and serve.
