What’s more fun than cotton candy? This cotton textured, spun sugar confection is a childhood favorite that now gets an adult treatment in the form of a cotton candy martini. As it melts into the mixture of vodka, vermouth and cranberry juice, it adds a touch of sweetness to the otherwise strong drink.
For your next party, prep ahead by rimming your cocktail glasses with the pink sanding sugar and filling them with cotton candy. Make the cocktail in large batches and have it waiting in a pitcher. Then let guests have the fun of pouring the liquid over the candy in their drink.
1 Tablespoon pink sanding sugar
1 teaspoon Dell Cove® Kettle Corn popcorn seasoning (to blend with the pink sanding sugar)
1 1/2 oz. Vodka
2 oz. Unsweetened cranberry juice
½ oz. Sweet vermouth
½ oz. Lemon juice
Handful (approximately 1/4 cup) cotton candy
Additional cotton candy for garnish (optional)
Add the pink sanding sugar and Dell Cove® Kettle Corn popcorn seasoning to a shallow bowl. Stir well to mix. Rub the cut edge of a lemon along the rim of a cocktail glass and dip into the sugar. Refrigerate or freeze for about 5 minutes to set.
Place the cotton candy at the bottom of the glass (it will act as the sweetener for the drink). Add the vodka, cranberry juice, vermouth and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake well. Pour over the cotton candy. Garnish with additional cotton candy, if desired.
Cotton candy will melt when it gets wet and it will provide the sweetness for the drink. To garnish with additional cotton candy without having it melt, try placing it on top of a cocktail pick.
