This Cajun Popcorn and Mardi Gras Daiquiri pairing are easy recipes for any Mardi Gras party host to make with our Cajun popcorn spices. Our Mardi Gras daiquiri is rimmed with some of the traditional festive New Orleans colors. We take a classic blended daiquiri recipe of white rum, freshly squeezed lime juice and a bit of simple syrup for sweetness. This tasty but strong drink gets shaken with ice but you can also serve it frozen by blending it with ice in a blender until it reaches a slushy consistency.
The rim colors make this version special with our three-color sugar pack. Besides the beautiful sparkle, there is a meaning for what each shade represents. The purple stands for justice, the green for faith and the golden yellow for power and wealth.

DIRECTIONS FOR MAKING CAJUN POPCORN
FIRST, POP YOUR POPCORN
Using a 6 quart pan, add 4 T oil (vegetable, peanut or coconut work best) and 4 popcorn kernels. (Essentially, enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan.) Cover the pan with a lid and place it over medium heat.
After these kernels pop, the oil is extremely hot. VERY CAREFULLY add about 1/3 cup of kernels, re-cover your pan and shake the pan back and forth, to coat the corn kernels and prevent burning. When the popping sound slows to one pop every 3 – 5 seconds, remove the pan from the heat and put the popcorn into a big bowl.

NEXT, SEASON YOUR CAJUN POPCORN
Dell Cove® seasonings stick best to popcorn that is slightly moist and freshly popped.
Drizzle some melted butter or ghee, or a spritz of olive oil or even truffle oil onto your bowl of popped popcorn. Sprinkle on some Dell Cove® Spicy Cajun Popcorn Seasoning onto the popcorn. Using a spoon, gentle stir the popcorn to help the seasoning coat the popped corn. Repeat this process until the popcorn is seasoned to your taste.
DIRECTIONS FOR MAKING MARDI GRAS DAIQUIRI
STEP 1: GARNISH YOUR GLASS WITH THREE COLORED SUGARS
Get a plate and imagine the plate is a pie. Mentally divide the plate into three even slices of pie. Pour one colored sugar into each slice of the plate’s “pie”.
Get two chilled glasses. Take one glass and moisten the glass rim with the simple syrup (or even a watered down honey will work). Hold the glass rim facing down, to allow the excess syrup to drip off.
Next, dip the glass rim into your plate of sugar. Move the glass gently, to make sure the sugar sticks to the rim. Lift the glass straight up, gently shaking off any excess sugar. Turn glass right side up and set glass aside. Repeat with second glass.
STEP 2: MAKE YOUR COCKTAIL
Add the white rum, fresh lime juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake well. Strain into the prepared glasses and serve.
