Pour your rim sugar onto a flat plate or shallow bowl. Rub a slice of lime or lemon around your glass rim. Or to add a sweeter touch, use simple syrup or a watered-down honey to moisten the glass rim. If you go with this option, simply pour the syrup onto a plate or shallow bowl.
Turn your glass upside down and dip glass rim into syrup.
Lift your glass straight up, and hold it over the plate for a few seconds, to allow excess syrup to drip off. Then, dip the rim of your glass into the cocktail rim sugar.
Gently move the glass around the sugar, rotating the glass as you go.
Lift glass out of sugar. Tap off excess. Turn glass right-side up and pour the beverage into a glass and enjoy. If there are empty spots, it means there was not enough moisture on the rim. To fix, simply dab glass rim with fruit and dip again in sugar.
HOW TO MAKE SIMPLE SYRUP:
Add two parts sugar to one part water. Bring to boil in a saucepan and CAREFULLY and CONSTANTLY stir until sugar dissolves and the mixture is clear. Remove pan from heat, cool syrup, and use.
